Celebrations in the Greek Catholic Eparchy of Mukachevo

On 28th June 2016 the Greek Catholic Eparchy of Mukachevo, Ukraine celebrated the feast of relocation of relics of martyr Rev. Theodor Romza. The event was attended by bishops and priests from different Eastern Catholic Churches.

Most Rev. Eugeniusz Popowicz the Metropolitan of Przemysl – Warsaw co-celebrated the Divine Liturgy with local bishops: Most Rev. Milan Szaszik of Eparchy of Mukachevo and Most Rev. Nil Luszczak the auxiliary bishop of the same Eparchy.

There were also present other Greek Catholic bishops from Ukraine, Hungary and Slovakia as well as Roman Catholic bishops from Ukraine and Apostolic Visitor for Greek Catholics in Belarus.

At the end of his sermon, Most Rev. Eugeniusz Popowicz presented Most Rev. Milan Szaszik with relics of martyr Most Rev. Josafat Kocylowski (pre-war Bishop of Przemysl)

The Divine Liturgy finished with a procession to the Greek Catholic Cathedral in Uzhorod where bishops blessed the newly-built The Empress Maria Theresa Square.

Subsequently, the procession went through “The Door of Divine Mercy” in the Cathedral to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Mercy.
