Yesterday (16th September 2017) the clergy and the faithful met to pray for the victims of the Jaworzno concentration camp. The mournful celebrations commenced with a Divine Liturgy served by Most Rev. Wlodzimierz Juszczak, the Bishop of Wroclaw – Gdansk and 15 other priests from Poland and Ukraine. Archbishop of Przemysl – Warsaw, Most Rev. Eugeniusz Popowicz was represented by Rev. Mitred Bogdan Stepan. The Divine Liturgy was followed by Panakhyda, laying of flowers at the monument commemorating the victims of the camp and speeches delivered by, respectively, Andriy Deshchytsa, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland, and Pawel Silbert, the President of Jaworzno.
Subsequently, all guests were invited to Jaworzno Youth Centre to take part in a solemn concert in memory of the victims of Jaworzno concentration camp.
The whole event was attended by plenty of people from Poland and Ukraine.
