Upon Major Archbishop Most Rev. Sviatoslav Shevchuk’s decree, the 18th (5th) August each year has become the Day of Respect for the Icon of the Virgin Mary „The Gate of Mercy.”
The decision has been made to commemorate the act of coronation of the Icon with Papal crowns.
The Icon is displayed in Transiguration of Our Lord church in Jaroslaw.
