Last week (6th – 9th March 2017), the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Przemysl – Warsaw, Most Rev. Eugeniusz Popowicz chaired formational meeting and sobor (synod) of the Archdiocese of Przemysl – Warsaw. The event was held in the town of Bialobrzegi, Poland.
The main issues discussed during conferences included: the concept of Eastern Catholic Churches and their tasks; activity of the Congregation for Oriental Churches and its place within the Roman Curia; severe crimes against faith, morality, customs and Holy Gifts; absolution by the Holy See and some canonical aspects of Holy Matrimony.
The above-mentioned topics were discussed by experts in the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches, namely the secretary of the Congregation for Oriental Churches – Archbishop Kiril Vasil and Rev. Andriy Tanasiychuk, Ph.D., the deputy head of the Canon Law Department of the UGCC Curia.
Moreover, parallely, there was held a sobor (synod) of the Archdiocese of Przemysl – Warsaw. The main topics included: review of activities of different Archdiocesan commissions and update of the pastoral plan for the current year in the Archdiocese of Przemysl – Warsaw.
Obviously, apart from formal meetings and conferences, each day was filled with prayer and spiritual learning.
